Eva Mendes was born in Miami in 1974. She is of Cuban descent. Her
parents divorced when she was still a kid, and thus she along with her
mother and two sisters and a brother moved to Los Angeles. Eva considers
herself to be a devout Catholic, although some of the dogmas (like
marriage) are not for her, as she claims. She even considered becoming a
nun, and never an actress.
After school she entered California State University, where she studied
marketing. She ended up not graduating from it, as she was persuaded by
an agent to try acting. Her career started with commercials and music
videos for Will Smith, Pet Shop Boys and Aerosmith. She was then noticed
and her major breakthrough was in the film that won an Oscar for Mr.
Denzel Washington “Training Day.” She was then ushered into the big
screen business with both leading and supporting roles in such films as
Stuck on You, Hitch, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Ghost Rider, Bad
Lieutenant, We Own the Night, becoming one of the most sought-after
actresses in the business.
In 2008 she launches her line of bedding, which can be purchased in the Macy’s network.
